“These are the most characteristic and expensive works by Manuel de la Mata. The 5 layers is a modern technique, although it is not intended to be original, it starts with a photo taken by the painter to which he adds a digital layer directly with his finger via a cell phone or tablet; the result is printed on a canvas and painted a third layer with the best Extrafine Rembrandt oil paint. De la Mata continues with a fourth coat using acrylic paints to finish with a smooth, shiny or matte varnish. It is a technique very similar to that of the American painter David Hockney that the newspaper "Le Parisien" defined as the most expensive painter in the world. Art critics call this technique "five layers"
